Victim Advocacy services at
Children’s Safe Harbor are:
The Victim Advocate Department is the first line of service at Children’s Safe Harbor. Victim Advocates are the point of contact upon a family’s first entry into our Children’s Advocacy Center. Victim Advocates have a range of responsibilities, the first and foremost being to ensure a child and their non-offending caregiver are supported during their initial services, the forensic interview and family advocacy. The children and their family that come to our center are in a state of crisis, they are victims of crime. Victim Advocates ensure our facility is calm and welcoming and are there to answer any questions the family may have while they wait for services.
Victim Advocates often engage with the children and their families. Engagement can range from providing child support and intervention while a caregiver meets with their family advocate or investigative agencies, or providing crisis intervention to de-escalate and maintain safety of the center.
If you ever require help making a CPS or Law Enforcement report, please call 936-756-4644 ext. 0 to speak with one of our Victim Advocates and they can help you through this process.
