When a Child Comes to
Children’s Safe Harbor
Children’s Safe Harbor provides specialized forensic interviews for children ages 2–17 and adults with intellectual disabilities. A forensic interview is a neutral, non-leading conversation designed to help children share information about possible abuse or exposure to violence in a safe and developmentally appropriate way.
Our trained interviewers work at the request of law enforcement and Child Protective Services. Partner agencies observe the interview in real time, which allows the child to tell their story only once and helps protect the integrity of the information gathered.
All interviews are digitally recorded to reduce the need for repeated questioning. These recordings are part of the investigation and are the property of the referring agency.
We may also interview 18-year-old victims who are still in high school when requested by our multidisciplinary team partners.
